Jerky for US Troops

Jerky for U.S. Troops is a charity started 17 years ago by a member of the Northwest Town Sportsmen Club, a club of all types of outdoors men. American Legion Post 911 has partnered with Northwest Towns Sportsmen Club and their annual Jerky for the U.S. Service Troops Project. The project mission was to collect fresh venison from local hunters and package it safely to our Military Hero’s. Over time it has grown tremendously having a record year each year. This year we will have hundreds of pounds of high protein, fresh, free range venison being turned into jerky for the troops, this hits home with troops whether they are sportsmen or just looking for a taste of home.

Adopt a Box

 “Adopt a Box” program is a $20 donation (shipping cost of an overseas box) or more if desired. A donation box will be setup at the Post in December, January and February to collect items to be donated along with the Jerky. Some suggested items for donation include personal hygiene, food snacks, candy, gum and pocket size powdered drinks. We encourage sending a letter or picture of encouragement to our soldiers, letting them know that America is thinking and supporting them.

Item donations and letters for the “Adopt a Box” can be dropped off by March 6, 2022 or mailed to the American Legion Post 911, 515 S Main St, Wauconda, IL 60084. Checks should be made out to Northwest Towns Sportsmen Club (NWTSC) and mailed to Dale Berg, 702 W Burning Tree Ln, Arlington Heights, Il 60004,  or mailed to Post 911.
